Tats Gotanda’s 1959′ Chevrolet Impala was the very first Impala to have hydraulics installed, 8 1/2′ lift and drop – Body customizing by Bill Hines ,built in 62′. Sitting on Buick Skylark wires. These pioneers didn’t even know how far and for how long this trend that evolved into lowriding would go.

I had tried for years to find a picture of Ron Aguirre’s ‘ X-Sonic’. Why? Because this is the first car to have non factory hydraulic suspension. First built in 1958, X-Sonic was a 1956′ Corvette. Shown here in the early 60′s in one of its 5 builds it is equipped with early bubble top and Larry Watson fade paint, the hydraulics were ex-B52 bomber landing gear and hand pumped to raise the car. The height adjustment baffled cops and excited crowds being able to adjust the ride height and the birth of Hydraulic suspensioned lowriders was born.

Jay Smith, aka Jay Burton floating a nice ollie at the SSS Ramp. This ramp was fun, behind our house on somebodies section? The beach behind… those were the days…..New Zealand is amazing!

Our friend Max from Vermont USA sent us through some pics from the Road Agents Club show that was held a year or so ago. Unfortunatley this event isn’t held anymore, too bad as by the looks there are some bad ass Rods and Customs that attend. Thanks Max! New Zealand to USA Committed Few!
Count the the louvres on this 49′ Ford…

This flaked and flamed Chevy sitting on wide whites and Caddy caps looking mean. Spot the classic body mods.

This Coupe is mean with its huge chop n channel, frenched Caddy tailights, all black with black steelies and white walls. Road Warrior!

A beautiful sled, period perfect!
A Rats nest by the looks of it?

‘Lil Drifter’ rat rod roadster would take on any Nissan Laurel!

1959 Cadillac, shes got a big ol’ ass, but its beautiful! Wheres the G string poppin out?

This roadster would be mean on the dirt track or hill climb!

Thanks again Max, keep on sending us through some pics and cheers for representing Committed Few in the U.S.
66′, prob in 66. True lowrider. Pre reversed wires. Either, Buick wires, Supremes or Cragars were the shoes of choice. c/o 4q Conditioning.

I have seen this 60′ Impala a couple of times and it is amazing! So clean and the wings look awsome with top down and the car dropped.

Issac McCleary’s Chev roadster is gnarly! This young cannon hand built most of it and is Committed! With the muscle car madness looming and no sign of breaks coming from the States, Issac couldn’t drive this 4oo hp Buick Nailhead beast up. So he dragged it for the 9 or so hour drive from Winton to Rangiora to display it. This thing is gonna destroy cross ply whitewalls! We can’t wait!

Gotta love the copper flutes on the six stack, spun by Phil Hutty @ Metal Spinning Specialists, Christchurch.

Thanks for checking out Committed Few. We will have regular updates with photo’s mostly of Custom, hot rod and lowrider car culture from 50′s – 70′s, coverage of car shows and updates of local custom culture in New Zealand also a mix of anything that we think is bad ass and represents Committed Few our clothing brand. Enjoy!
