I’ve had my old 65 Impala for about 12 years, and she’s been running her original 283 basically untouched since then. The motor had some work some 20+ years ago, all have done is nursed it, keeping it serviced regularly, rebuilt the old 2 barrel carb and keep replacing the fouled plugs in the two cylinders that have low compression. She still runs nice and smooth considering….. but she’s definatley tired. I’ve wanted a new motor for sometime, but the $$ have restrained me, keeping the 283 alive. One afternoon I was talking motors with my mate Steve about a 350 he is having built up low cost and I was like holy shit! I want one! Steve talked to his mate Mark who is a pretty handy engineer and he was willing to help me out. So we got in touch and it turns out he’s a bloody good bugger with a freshly bored 355 block ready to build out of new and used parts. Such a good man doing this at low cost and teaching me as we go….I’m stoked. His workshop is amazing and he knows Chevy motors inside out with all the tricks to maximise hp. This is his 454 below he recently built for himself and put in his Holden Statesmen. Its a serious engine! I’ll be documenting the progress up until the transplant… the Impala is going to have a major kick in the arse with over double the hp it currently has… I cant wait, those 14 x 175′s will smoke.

The Reefton Ramble is a loosley organised campin, skatin, swimmin and beer drinkin weekend. Always hot and always a great time. Friends come from around NZ and new crew show every year. Started in I think 2006, and influenced by the then Anti Hero flick Tent City, Dunc and I thought this has to be done, and in Western theme due to the feel of the west coast town of Reefton. This park is so fun and in a great location for a holiday..Such an amazing cruise there from which ever direction…. see y’all next year…thanks for the pics Helena!

The Kustoms club held their annual swap meet at Mcleans Island just last weekend. The club have some good property to come bring your shit to sell and to show your car. A nice selection of cars showed up and you could definatley find some stuff you may or may not use to purchase. It was hot as fu#@ out there and all the bogans wearing black including myself were feeling the sun, especially if you were one of the crew who camped the night and partied and felt the dehydration set in. Well worth the cruise out and catch up with mates and have a look at everything. We look forward to next year.
I’m pretty sure this is a 36′? anyway this Ford coupe was available. Had alot of the hard body work completed.

Some 70′s true spokes for GM. These are definately making a researgence in popularity within the old style lowrider scenes in the states. slight rust around the spoke nipples but could be polished.. $600…still thinking about them. have the dudes number. If only they were 14 inch not 15.

Justin is selling his 60′ Buick. She’s a solid old survivor, running and all legal. Rear lowered by Bellamy and East and certified. Give him a shout 027 215 2617

At the show there were some beautiful restored to original vehicles such as this nice 60′ Impala 4 door pillourless, and the Ford and Chevy below.

This 59′ Galaxie is off the show room amazing
This photo does not give this 67′ coupe justice. It was immaculate!

If you have ever wanted to go to Japan and just haven’t then go! This is one of the best countries you could ever visit…we had such a blast. Great snow in the north, and awesome sites to see, food to eat and great people… We only scratched some of the surface and really look forward to going back.
Friday night in Shibuya, Tokyo, didn’t hear one loud exhaust from a shit box Nissan, but definatley heard the beautiful baffle of glass packs from lowriders varying from 61′s to 64′s. Six Fo’ rag below

This is a second hand shop selling original skate gear. Zorlac and Cabellero pre sweated in t’s. Was cool as shit, but expensive!

Lots of peope in Japan ride bicycles, scooters and cool Harleys and English bikes such as these nice Triumphs below. Dig the 60′s paint!

Glad-hand Core is a really cool store in Tokyo. These guys have their own brands of clothing in true mid century So-Cal style. Check this link. They gave me local hot rod mags and showed me pics of their Triumphs in local mags. These guys live and breath kustom culture

Outside Glad-hand core a 62′ Mistubishi….pretty cool for a Japanese car. Most japanese hotrod/lowrider magazines have a domestic section which have classic and vintage Japanese cars done up American styled

Hokkaido gets lots of snow! Amy and Keiko next to a buried car after only two days

My homie Taka is a good man….. “KANPAI!” many more soon bro…..
