It ain’t real pretty, but this engine has major life when we fired it up on the stand. Thanks to Mark we have put this together for about $2000 nz and I’ve learned alot along the way. We were going to run a quadra jet but it was pushing a bit too much fluel as it was tuned for a BB. So we re kitted a Holley 600, with a soft spring in the vacuum secondaries. The standard size 64 main jets are a bit lean with the fuel so have 66′s and 68′s to fiddle around with as we are working with 10.1 compression and a high performance street cam. This lil small block should get the Impala moving along nicley. This sunday we are transplanting the tired OG 283 out and the 355 is going in. I can’t believe how excited i am. It has been a long time coming.

“culture rape” – It’s an actual quote from a friend in auckland when I was sort of diplomatically trying to describe how I felt about the Deus store in Auckland. OK, store – maybe Cafe is a better word. I had to go back just to see if my first visit was some kind of unorthodox midlife crisis, older mum dad and kids with iphones, weekend eggs Benedict association meeting… It was that second visit when I got told not totake pictures, I was abit caught off guard and asked the barrista “are you fucking kidding? Why?” – the upshot was they just don’t allow photos, could you please leave – So I left with my opinion solidified – what a bunch of rapists!
Look, I’m no core biker guy, I haven’t spent the time monkey wrenching crotch rockets in the shed but I can tell when a place is filling a bandwagon without the wheels on straight. The place unquestionably has a great fitout and good display of some iconic old bikes, but with their OCCesque bolt-on Deus theme bikes sprinkled between them and their bustling cafe, they fall into the background as part of the old wallpaper. Most of the clientele are more concerned that the wait on their mid day brunch will be 40mins rather than the rad lineup of Indians around the corner or the old boardtrack racer on a bench.

CF Bomba project arrived. 46 Fleetmaster, NZ new right hander. Pretty much all complete including dead mouse on the parcel tray. Rusty sills and left front guard, apart from that all doors, door jams, boot everything is really solid. May take a while but good things take time. Got the Fulton visor. Dreaming of big whites, two tone guards and roof, spats, dearched leaves with blocks and chopped front coils.
This a 47, but on the right track
