VW’s McCleary Style

Jake and his bro Tom i’m claiming started the trend in Chch for putting steelies and white walls on non american cars. Before I met Jake I noticed his rat Variant, which he customed to look rat long before it was played out like it is today. That Variant featured on the film ‘Second Hand Wedding’, but it was way lower when he owned it. Here is what he has to say about some of the other VW’s he’s owned.

“Yo,
Heres some shots of me old bugs, back before I got a cooler car, haha. Second last one is in ChCh with the new owner. Blue fastback went to AK, then turned up in ChCh, with a mate of the guy who bought my one!! Last photo is before it went to AK, looked better dirt. I welded the roofrack straight to the roof. Both the dubs in the last photos are rockin CF on the glovebox!! White one i sitting 65mm of the deck, got sick of hitting the road tho. 55k OG 59 Beetle, purists dream so I slammed it to make ‘em cry, haha fuckers.”

CF Back in Action

We apologise for the lack of updates of late. We are back in action! Work had been overly busy, trying to get the 65 running, a major earthquake, no power, getting married and going on my honeymoon have all got in the way.

We have some great things in the pipeline so keep posted you won’t be dissapointed!

Jakes 55 Ford Ranch Wagon

Jake has been very patiently working away on his 55 Ranch for sometime now with the help of one of his lovely girlfriends Mary Jane. He said it took about 20 hours just to get the seat correct to fit over the heavily modified drive train tunnel in the floor. The results are going to be so fucking rad. We are so excited to see the final result and to get a full pictorial of this coolness. How sweet does a two door wagon look! Take your time Jake! Winter is nearly here now, next summer is a few months away to get it perfect!

Yes

60′s lace work is gaining popularity in a big way. I have to get my arse into gear and the cordon in ChCh needs to be reduced so I can access Allen Panel & Paint. This is exactly what I have had in mind for the 65 for the last year or so. Pretty simple example but a sweet traditional result. My dream was to get the curtains down from the Regal Lounge massage parlour on Tuam St to use. All my years I have wondered what was going on behind those seedy lace curtains upstairs. The building was up for lease, and I had the owners ph number and now i’m sure the building has been destroyed by the earthquake. The pattern was perfect and unique and had history….
